Opensim Fest Needs You

With the holidays behind us and the world kind of back to normal it is time to focus on the Opensim Fest coming up on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of March. The region is showing signs of activity from some of the builders that have already signed up and the performer slots are filling up but there is still space for people to take part. Below is some information about how you, the opensim community can take part.

What is Opensim Fest?

"From the ashes of AvatarFest it is with great pleasure we would like to announce Opensim Fest rising like a phoenix. OpenSim Fest is the celebration of the strength and diversity of the hypergrid user community. For the community, by the community. The format, the idea and the aims of OpenSim Fest will stay true to AvatarFest and we hope to be worthy custodians for Han and Eryn."

"We do not represent corporations, companies nor grids – we are the customers, users, builders and dreamers who live out here, sharing our dreams and creations with one another."

"There are two parts to the festival, the first is the weekend of live performances on the Opensim Fest grid on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of March 2019. and secondly you will be able to visit the region via the hypergrid to see the exhibits until the 6th April 2019. Nearer the time of the festival a full schedule will be posted and pages will be posted to the site with a full list of performers and exhibitors."

Exhibitors

Opensim Fest buids on the legacy of the incredible AvatarFest that ran for 4-5 years successfully. However, last year Han and Eryn the original creators felt they wanted to hand over the baton and Opensim Fest like a Pheonix rises from the ashes. Like AvatarFest we are inviting builders, creators, communities and members of the Opensimulator community to show our collective creativity.

We have had people sign up already to exhibit and this post extends the invitation to take part in this festival. We have large and small plots available depending on your creative energies and would like a range of people to take part in the exhibition part of the festival. If you dont feel confident doing the exhibition on your own get together with some friends and build it together. There is allot of scope for exhibitors and if you are unsure drop us a message and we will happily discuss it with you.

If you would like to take part use the contact details below and we will happily get you set up with a plot to build on.

Performers

There are still places left in the performer schedule but it is filling fast Cataplexia Numbers is doing an amazing job booking and organising the performers. If you are a live performer, spoken word artist, DJ or any other kind of live performer I cant think of right now use the details below to get involved.

We have also added a tech talk and Q & A slot to the performers schedule for the more technically minded. With this in mind and as an example, we are very pleased to announce that we have Foto50 the creator of the Opensim webfront called Jopensim doing a Q & A at the Festival. We would like to encourage all parts of our broad and diverse community to take part.

Volunteers

Another important part of contriubting to Opensim Fest is colunteering over the weekend there are lots of ways that people can offer time greeting our guests to the Fest region, answering questions that guests may have, posting to social media and many other things. If you think you will have some time over the festival weekend please get in touch with us.

Opensim Fest Info Board

I have created an information board for Opensim Fest which will be put out on various sandboxes across the Hypergrid. The info board has a poster, buttons to click for a notecard, landmark and to visit the Opensim Fest website.

If you would like to put the information board out on a grid welcome region or your home region you can go and grab a copy from the sandboxes. If you would like me to drop one off for you leave me a comment below, ask me on discord or using the contact form (here) or email me (leighton@opensimfest.org).

We cannot make this festival happen without you so if you are interested get in touch with us and we can get you started. You can find more information for contributors on this page here we look forward to hearing from you.
